This week in my Production and Utilization of Instructional Technology class, we were shown a little about how to use a Smart Board. We had Smart Boards my senior year of high school in all of my classes, but we used them in some classes more than others. I think that they can be a great tool for teaching, but that the lesson cannot rely on the technology too much, in case it isn't working correctly that day.
I hope that I am able to use a Smart Board in my future classroom, because I think it is a fun way to get students involved in their learning and to give them a way to interact with the material. If they are engaged in the lesson, it will stick with them better. One way I can use the Smart Board is for vocabulary words.

ReplyDeleteI definitely would like to learn how to use a Smart Board as well. That is one of my fears about when I go into student teaching that I won't know how to use it! I think the campus might offer some Smart Board trainings...may be worth checking out?
When I took that class last fall, I remember going over it a little bit. It's definitely a challenging concept at first, but like you said, could be so beneficial with engaging students during your lessons. I hope I'm able to use them in my future classroom as well!
ReplyDeleteI must apologize to all of you, as we are in a room that has a smart board. I do know some ways to use it, but it requires a download on your computer. I'm seriously wondering if anyone wants to consider doing their future research paper on Smartboards, or if you want to talk about that on your final paper. There are plenty of times the room is free if you want to experiment and play, and I could help you arrange that. Something to think about.
